ROUGH CANYON OUTFITTERS is your Southwestern Colorado hunting connection offering private land hunts as well as public land hunts in the San Juan National Forest. We offer Bull Elk and Mule Deer Buck hunts in a variety of hunting options and camps to fit your needs and budget. We offer hunts in Colorado Units 71, 72, and 73. Our Rico Camp in unit 71 is located in San Juan National Forest and is our rugged backcountry public land camp. We mainly offer fully guided hunts from this camp but also offer DIY camps in the Lizard Head Wilderness area. This is the perfect area for the backcountry hunters who want more out of their hunt. This is a wall tent camp setup, and we hunt on foot mostly but have the option of horses if needed. This unit is draw for most elk hunts and all mule deer hunts but it fairly easy to draw. This camp is operated under special use permit with the San Juan National Forest. These hunts are physically demanding but fun.

Our Cortez Camp in units 72/73 is our private land mule deer camp. This area is known for its amazing mule deer quality. We are privileged to hunt 6000 acres of private property and we target bucks in the 150" to 170" range with 180" possible. These hunts are low pressure with a very high success rate. These hunts are super fun and you will see a lot of deer. They are for clients of all ages and physicality. We can offer accommodations or clients can stay in town and just hunt with us.

Our King Ranch DIY Camp in unit 71 is situated on 640 acres of private property surrounded by remote non-motorized national forest. This camp is setup for groups up to 4 hunters with a trapper's cabin with full kitchen setup and a wall tent for sleeping. This camp is really popular and available for archery or rifle camps.
