ROUGH CANYON OUTFITTERS is your Western Colorado hunting connection. We offer Bull Elk and Mule Deer hunts in a variety of hunting options and camps to fit your needs and budget. We offer hunts in Colorado Units 71, 72, 73, and 421. We are passionate about our business and put in the work to ensure successful and enjoyable hunts. We are a family operated business and treat our clients the same way.
Our camp in unit 421, Willow Creek Camp, is our traditional public land camp. In this camp we offer guided or DIY archery and rifle hunts for elk, moose, and mule deer. These hunts are operated under special use permit from the USDA in the Grand Mesa National Forest. Our base camp is at 9300ft and situated so that we can hunt out on foot or access farther out areas via atv's. This camp has a very comfortable wall tent camp setup with a lot of the comforts of home. These hunts are moderately physical hunts.
Our camp in units 72/73, Cortez Camp, is our private land mule deer hunts. This area is known for its amazing mule deer quality. We are privileged to hunt 2500+ acres of private property and we target bucks in the 150" to 170" range with 180"+ possible. These hunts are low pressure with a very high success rate. These hunts are super fun and you will see a lot of deer. They are for clients of all ages and physicality. We can offer accommodations or clients can stay in town and just hunt with us.
Our main DIY camp in unit 71, King Ranch Camp, is situated on 640 acres of private property surrounded by remote non-motorized national forest. This camp is setup for groups up to 4 hunters with a trapper's cabin with full kitchen setup and a wall tent for sleeping. This camp is really popular and available for archery or rifle camps.
Our main guided camp in unit 71, Rico Camp, is our rugged backcountry public land camp. We mainly offer fully guided hunts from this camp but also a DIY camp in the Lizard Head Wilderness area. This is the perfect area for the backcountry hunters who want more out of their hunt. This is a wall tent camp setup, and we hunt on foot mostly but have the option of horses if needed. This unit is draw for most elk hunts and all mule deer hunts but it fairly easy to draw. This camp is operated under special use permit with the San Juan National Forest. These hunts are physically demanding but fun.
